An instructor-led online course
requires a commitment of a set number of hours each day for the length of
the session.
These sessions include opportunities to
engage with an instructor and other training participants as well as
to work hands-on in your own personal training account and learn at
your own pace.
Some session
require
4 hours for eight days over a two-week period. Others require
less. Check the description of each session for details on
length and cost.
To
participate in an instructor-led online session, you will need a computer
with Internet access, a phone by the computer, and a environment with no
interruptions or background noises.
An
email confirmation of registration will be sent when you register. About a
week before the session, you will receive additional emails providing a URL,
login information, and other details. Be sure to read all emails
thoroughly. Registration deadline for an
instructor-led online session is 10 days before the session. |
The WinPRISM training
curriculum is designed to provide college store personnel with the tools and
knowledge you need to successfully use your computer system. WinPRISM is a comprehensive, sophisticated, yet easy to use
system. Consequently, CBMS Systems
Support has developed a training program to address the needs of those who work
in the various departments of a college bookstore. Several courses are offered in keeping with the
diverse procedures and responsibilities which are unique to the varied
departments found in a college bookstore.
Two of the sessions, Install/Store Manager
and Financial Aspects, are designed for the store's decision maker, i.e., the
manager or director, assistant manager and/or business manager. Textbooks and
General Merchandise are designed
for buyers of textbooks and general merchandise.
Separate sessions cover the Integrated Accounting System (IAS):
Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and General Ledger. Each session focuses on particular aspects of
the program from a
specialized point of view. To see
descriptions of a session, click the session name in the table at the top of
this page.
Our philosophy is that for
you to use WinPRISM successfully, you must spend time on the
computer with directed learning experiences.
Our training sessions are designed for that. Enrollment in each training session is limited in order to ensure time
for individual attention and questions. Each
participant sits at a workstation which provides direct access to his or her
own training data. The class
works its way through a training manual which contains real-life exercises,
guided by our instructors, with each exercise building upon the previous one.
The goal of each training
session is to provide you with practical knowledge that can be
used on the job. At the end of
each training session, people new to WinPRISM know how to get started while
those who have already been using the program will have gained a
deeper understanding of how it works.
In addition, everyone will know how to find answers to questions and
where to turn to for help.
